Holiday in the Sun
Well I have returned from my much needed leave of Arizona. I had a kick ass time in California, but I missed my friends, my cat, the desert sunsets and my vinyls. What I did like about California; the beach, the girls on the beach, catching some surf waves, the weather, and the laid back attitude, but the smog is disgusting. I also made some new connections there in California. Rocky of Rocky's Surf Shop cut off $10 off of a surf cd for me, and the sons of Dewey Weber (one of the most influential surf board manufacturers) said next time I'm out to give them a call and they would take me out surfing. I caught some really nice rides too, the waves at Old Man's Beach kick my ass though once high tide started rolling in. I went into Ruby's Diner and saw the most beautiful girl in the world, she had a great body, beautiful eyes, and a sad face that probably went with a sad story, ahh that's my achilles tendon.
I picked up some cool new stuff though, a candle holder for my civil war reenacting, a checkered two-tone ska shirt, a new rash guard for surfing, some new curdoroy (sp?) pants (very comfortable), a nice tan (though my nose got deep fried), a knife sheath for my knife (of course), a western swing tape cassette, Charlie Does Surf: A Surf Tribute to The Clash (CD), Sex Pistols "God Save the Queen" (CD, I used to hate them, now I like them, shut up), Generation X "Perfect Hits 1975-1981" (CD), Madness "The Very Best of Madness" (C D), The Stingrays Surf Band "Don't Fear the Reverb" (CD, great title also), The Torquays Surf Band "Somewhere in California" (CD signed by the band, I saw them live at the International Surf Museum in Huntington Beach), The Selecter "Too Much Pressure" (Vinyl, Original 1980 pressing), Blue Oyster Cult "Some Enchanted Evening" (Vinyl, Original 1978 pressing).
I went to Amoeba music store, biggest music store I ever saw, they had everything and I mean everything. You could spend two days in there and not see everything. I could have spent $1000 there easy, no problem. I ran into a bunch of old punkers too, ran into one guy who liked my X Los Angeles shirt.
By far the most amazing thing about this trip was the red tide at the beach. Red Tide is a pollution that causes algae to glow phosphorous green. Whenever the waves broke at night they glowed day-glow green. It was like the aurora borealis in the ocean everytime the waves broke, green lightening shooting through the white water. The sand was also so polluted that when you walked on it, the sand even lighted up green. It seemed as if I was on some completely foreign planet.
Well I am tired so I must cease writing.
